Job Description
3H is a 22 Neuroscience/Spine unit at Blodgett Hospital that specializes in the care of patients admitted with neurological conditions, stroke, and spinal surgeries such as fusions and laminectomies. Nurses are often drawn to 3H for the variety of patients while still having a specialty focus. Our nurses become competent in caring for a large array of both surgical and medical patients and become experts in the care of patients within our specialties. Specifically, our team is known as being experts in Stroke care , urinary catheter s , managing the care of wounds, drains and post-operative recovery . Additional unique skills that nurses hired to 3H will learn include utilization of the NIHSS Stroke Scale .
Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
Qualifications
Required
Associate's Degree Nursing
Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing must be obtained within 5 years for those who start in this RN role on or after January 1, 2017 - SHGR
Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program
NURSING\Registered Nurse (RN) State of Michigan Upon Hire
LIFE SUPPORT\Basic Life Support (BLS) 90 Days
