Summary The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Program Support Assistant. The Program Support Assistant will function in Patient Care Extended Care Service. Responsibilities The Program Support Assistant duties include but are not limited to: Provide general clerical administrative support and uses sound judgement in prioritizing tasks. Uses computerized timekeeping systems and resolves issues and discrepancies. Schedule appointments of residents in accordance with current guidelines. Review, deliver and prepare correspondence. Demonstrate excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Incumbent will act as the receptionist on a medical unit which will include tasks such as but not limited to (receiving incoming calls and greeting internal and external customers). Utilize the proper system to enter electronic work orders for area maintenance. Organize medical charts, maintain files and office records. Compile monthly reports using appropriate system and scans into the computerized patient record system. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school leading to a bachelor's degree. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours (Transcripts must be submitted). OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. This can be determined by adding total qualifying experience as a percentage of the required experience and education as a percentage of the total required. The total percentage must equal 100 percent. For example, the position to be filled is an Program Support Assistant, GS-5. You have 9 months of specialized experience and 75 semester hours of college (15 semester hours beyond the second year and the equivalent of 3 months of specialized experience). You meet 75 percent of the required experience and 25 percent of the required education. You meet 100 percent of the requirement for 1 year of specialized experience and are qualified for the position..
