Description
The Regional Director of Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) is responsible for assisting the Director Corporate CDI in providing program oversight and monitoring across McLaren Health Care. The Regional Director CDI will develop strong partnerships and interface with subsidiary senior leadership teams and key physician leaders to reach the goals and objectives of the CDI departments, which include achieving the highest quality of clinical documentation to ensure severity of illness, resource utilization, quality of care, measurable outcomes, and accurate reimbursement.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting the Corporate Director CDI with establishing and providing oversight/monitoring of the McLaren CDI Subsidiaries.
Ensure compliance with coding standards and government regulations.
Participates in the staff hiring process of CDI specialists.
Assist in the development of CDI processes, policies and practice standards.
Assist with annual goals/performance management assessments and performs staff evaluations.
Assist with the continued development and creation of CDI workflow within the EMR(s) to achieve best practice CDI workflows and standardization.
Act as the Clinical Validation Team (CVT) CDI representative for each subsidiary overseen, performs CVT audits and is an active member of the team.
Responsible for the maintenance of the 3M CDI application tool at each subsidiary, as well as educating staff on updates and changes.
Communicates with MCH Subsidiary Leadership (CFO, CMO, and Quality), HIM/Coding Leadership, to support CDI initiatives, CDI Dashboard Metrics and key performance indicators.
Develop and participate in monthly CDI/Coding Task Force meetings: develop topics for education, collaborate with coding staff to ensure complete documentation of discharge diagnoses/co-morbidities are reflective of the patient's clinical status and care.
Develops, runs reports and utilizes Revenue Optimization Compass (ROC)/Crimson Continuum of Care (CCC) reports for trends and identify opportunities for potential CDI impact on mid-cycle metrics.
Qualifications
Required
BSN
Current Registered Nurse License in the State of practice
Minimum 10 years of acute hospital care experience
Minimum 5 years of CDI experience in an acute healthcare facility
Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) and maintenance of continuing education requirements
Member with the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS)
