Position: Workforce Development Specialist – Michigan Works
Location: Oakland County Michigan Works! Troy
Reports to: Program Coordinator
Salary Range: $41,612 – $54,294
Starting Date: ASAP
Description: 52 weeks/year, 40 hours/week Monday – Friday, 8am – 5:00pm
Job Duties:
- Provide excellent customer service to clients and partners
- Provide career planning and case management services to clients participating in workforce activities
- Schedule and facilitate program orientations and intakes, and accurately collect all program required documentation
- Assess client skills utilizing required basic skill assessments and compatibility tests
- Process all program required documentation and maintain accurate and complete case notes as required by state and federal program regulations
- Prepare clients for job readiness through career planning, job search assistance, resume writing, mock interviews, and soft skills training via one-on-one sessions or group/workshops
- Supervise job search and provision of training
- Achieve all performance standards, requirements, and measures
- Attend all required meetings with partners and Oakland County Michigan Works! staff
- Understanding and awareness of community partners and resources for necessary referrals
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred with a major in human services, counseling, social work, psychology, human resources or related areas; willing to consider directly related workforce/employment & training programs experience in lieu of degree
- Knowledge of Unemployment Insurance requirements/processes including Filing for Unemployment, Registering for Work, Work Search and MARVIN strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Wagner Peyser/Employment Services, Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) and/or Trade program rules and regulations preferred
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations with respect to employment and training programs and/or career and technical education programs preferred
- Working knowledge of the One-Stop Management Information System (OSMIS) preferred
- Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication along with strong organizational skills
- Proven ability to establish good rapport with adults
- Experience working with education, community, public and non-profit organizations
- Demonstrated skill in use of Microsoft products (Excel, Word)
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and his/her designee may find appropriate
