The University of Michigan Facilities and Operations Information Services (FOIS) is seeking a candidate with core competencies that include a solid knowledge of system administration, diagnostics, and maintenance to support a resilient and reliable infrastructure that incorporates the metering and control systems in most buildings on campus which will require occasional travel to them.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support application programming efforts
- Install, test, debug, document and install programs
- Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Windows Servers
- Install and maintain a wide variety of server applications for F&O users
- Install, configure, and maintain server, storage, and networking hardware
- Ensure system components work properly together
- Monitor and maintain network and system security and integrity
- Evaluate and modify system performance
- Ensure that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored
- Troubleshoot problems reported by users, analyze and isolate issues
- Maintain on-site building automation, utilities metering, and other systems
- Work with vendors to coordinate installation, support, and maintenance
- Maintain network-connected devices across the entire Ann Arbor campus
- Maintain network services such as web, file, and remote access servers
- Allocate network addresses and keep DNS entries up to date
- Maintain configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services
- Use network monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, and Splunk
- Work with campus central IT to request and adjust shared services
- Document IT processes and procedures
- 3 to 5 years of experience with ICS applications for power distribution and monitoring
- 3 to 5 years of utilizing cyber security best practices especially pertaining to building and utility control systems
- Extensive knowledge of networking concepts such as addressing, protocols, routing, and firewalls
- 1 to 2 years working with Microsoft Windows Failover Clustering and Microsoft SQL Server
- 1 to 2 years of experience with Storage Area Networks or enterprise class Network Attached Storage
- Solid understanding of virtual machines
- Understanding of PKI, hash functions, and encryption
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in the technology field in either a corporate and/or academic setting
- Demonstrated ability to organize and work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the proven ability to work effectively with diverse constituents and colleagues at all levels of technological understanding
- 3 to 5 years in experience of infrastructure technology and demonstrated understanding of networking, systems and applications development, systems analysis and integration, computer operations, information security, data management, and desktop support
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing demands and priorities
- Managing server configurations with GPOs and PowerShell
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- Hold a cybersecurity certification, CISSP, CISM, CRISC or comparable
- Working knowledge of IoT, HVAC controls, and building automation systems
- Experience with HPE hardware including Synergy and 3PAR systems
- Demonstrated programming ability in PowerShell
- Working knowledge of macOS, iOS, and Android
- Working knowledge of intrusion detection and prevention systems
- Working knowledge of Unix-like operating systems, primarily Linux and BSD
- Background and familiarity with Azure, AWS, containers / kubernetes
