GDIT is looking for an experienced Data Scientist (Advisor level) to support our customer, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), in their efforts to utilize Agile development processes to maintain operations and maintenance, provide new enhancements and added functionality for all Hospital Quality Reporting (HQR) systems, specifically for the Quality Analytics and Reports task area.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Plans, develops, tests, and documents highly complex applications programs.
Generates new code and corrects, converts, and/or modifies existing code to meet specifications.
Builds and codes applications and/or models using various computer programming languages with a strong emphasis in SAS.
Prepares detailed specifications from which code will be written.
Confers with end-users to analyze specified methods and procedures, identify problems, and document specific requirements.
Provides input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation such as users' manuals, product specifications, and training materials.
Performs a variety of testing procedures on assigned products, analyzes test results, and corrects problems.
Prepares reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, and presents results to management and/or customer personnel.
Performs research on emerging technologies to determine impact on application execution.
Provides guidance and work leadership to less experienced programmers and may have supervisory responsibilities.
May serve as a technical team or task leader.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
Gathers and/or clarifying business and technical requirements with data requestors.
Provides technical and analytic input to analytic team.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
8-10 years of directly related computer programming experience.
Experience with Medicare claims data.
Programming experience with analysis in the healthcare industry.
Advanced knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures used in computer programming.
Proficiency in the use of SAS and SQL.

Related experience in analytic programming, data extraction, querying databases/data warehouses and data analysis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Statistics.
Experience working in an Agile environment using collaboration tools (Jira).
Experience working in a cloud environment (AWS, Hive).
Experience leading project tasks.
Professional SAS Certification(s).
Experience with SAS Viya, Python, Visual Basic and R coding languages.
