Job Description MDOT is looking for a skilled, dedicated, and results-oriented licensed plumber to perform emergency, routine, and preventive maintenance on MDOT facilities statewide. This includes working on MDOT-owned structures across the state of Michigan by obtaining permits and performing a full range of plumbing as required by law. In addition to performing plumbing duties, this position also assists other skilled trade professions in the maintenance and repair of MDOT-owned facilities. The ideal candidate is safety conscious and mechanically inclined who is also a self-starter, organized, dependable, and possesses good communication skills. The duties of this position require the incumbent to drive a vehicle and/or vehicle/trailer combination (i.e. multiple types of vehicle/trailer combinations) with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of up to or more than 26,001 pounds. Duties which will require the use of these vehicles and/or vehicle/trailer combinations include, but are not limited to, general hauling of supplies, equipment, and material. Alternate Education and Experience Completion of a vocational training program in plumbing that includes commercial or industrial level instruction may be substituted for two years of experience assisting skilled trades people.
