The inpatient psychiatric unit at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital is a 36 bed adult unit caring for both voluntary and involuntary patients with a mental illness. Our multidisciplinary treatment team consists of nurses, mental health assistants, social workers, occupational and recreational therapists, a chemical dependency counselor, psychiatrists and nurse practitioners. We are proud to offer Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) as a treatment option. Our department has an active and engaged Unit Governance Council which leads many process improvement initiatives that are meaningful to our employees.
The Psychiatric Assessment Services (PAS) department at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital is a 5 bed department located in the Emergency Department. All patients presenting to the ED with a chief complaint which is psychiatric in nature are placed in our ligature resistant PAS department where our nurses and social workers complete an assessment to determine what level of care is needed. They provide compassionate care while working with our patients, their families and other community partners to ensure our patients receive the appropriate level of care. Ideal nursing candidates possess knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health code and insurance authorization process.
Administrative accountability for leading, managing, developing, supervising, and evaluating all aspects of patient care.
Manages and collaborates relationships with leadership members, physicians, for the care of responsible patient populations. Assures professional, clinical, and educational excellence in the provision of quality care to patients.
Facilitates empowerment of staff in the implementation of creative and innovative patient care delivery models and stimulates a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach in the continuous improvement of patient care services.
Assumes responsibility for fiscal management of the unit.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required.
Master's Degree in Nursing, Business, Health Management or other related field preferred.
ANCC recognized nursing specialty certification preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting required.
Demonstration of progressive nursing leadership in roles for example Charge Nurse, Assistant Clinical Manager, House Manager, Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Unit Leader and Chairperson of a Shared Governance Council/Committee or interdisciplinary team (not limited to these examples).
Knowledge of quality management and service excellence.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills that provides coaching and facilitation expertise.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES:
Current license to practice in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
BCLS/ACLS certification as required per unit standards.
