Blanchard Grinder Operator
Summary /Objective
Responsible for the set-up and operation of Blanchard Grinding Machines, Drill Press, Welder and snag grinding equipment, etc. Ensures maximum production while adhering to quality and safety standards and procedures.
Essential Functions

- Set up and operate a variety of Blanchard Grinding Machines and Drill Presses with a high level of skill and expertise.
- Achieve production, quality and safety standards by observing equipment operating conditions and making adjustments to maximize output.
- Detect malfunctions and make machine adjustments to achieve quality and production standards. Must be able to calibrate and use a variety of measuring devices.
- Notifies appropriate personnel of problems beyond the scope of responsibility of the position.
Will assist in the training of new operators. Coordinates the efforts with other departments to comply with procedures that assure finished products meet customer expectations. Assist other operators as needed to meet production and quality standards. Keep accurate time, production and maintenance records.
- Notifies Leader and/or orders supplies (in a timely fashion) required in the smooth operation of the Machining department.
Will cross train on a multitude of machines and equipment in order to provide greater flexibility in the entire operation. Maintain essential inventory items per established procedures.
- Will assist Leader/Supervisor with testing new products, ordering supplies, etc.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance in compliance with preventative/predictive schedules.
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.

Work Environment/ Physical Demands
This job operates in a manufacturing shop environment. Exposure to noise, chemicals, and materials consistent with a manufacturing environment is constant. This is a physically demanding position; maintaining the physical strength to lift materials up to 50 pounds, endure prolonged standing, dexterity, and stamina is necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time or part-time position. This position is assigned to either a day or evening shift. Overtime work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma. Equivalent work experience and demonstrated competency may substitute for a degree.
- Good planning, organization and follow up skills required.
- Must have the demonstrated ability to safely operate all material handling equipment, including fork trucks, overhead cranes, jib cranes, battery magnets, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Two-year degree in skilled trades program
- Additional technical training in machining centers, mills, lathes, etc.
