Position Summary
The Research Technologist will be responsible for implementing research projects and conducting experiments, managing rodent breeding colony, performing general lab duties and maintaining lab standards. Specific job duties include, but are not limited to mammalian cell culture, performing in vitro assays, processing tissue for immunofluorescence and histology, managing mouse breeding colony, administering drug to rodents via injections, oral gavage or other routes, assisting in rodent surgery; assisting in data analysis, and maintaining and updating laboratory protocols. The position is funded for one year from date of hire with possible extension contingent upon funding renewal.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or other related field; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in basic research techniques in the specific or related field; word processing, spreadsheet; database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The job may require the appropriate pesticide applicator''s registration/certification and/or experience working with potentially dangerous research animals.
Desired Qualifications
Prior experience with rodent handling, restraining, breeding colony management, injections, and/or oral gavage, prior experience with diet-induced obesity in rodents, and prior research lab experience.
