Description
Located in Petoskey Michigan:
As directed by the Team Leader and Registered Nurse and in partnership with the health care team and patient/family, performs work processes to accomplish positive patient outcomes, and organizational goals. Provision of care focuses on psychosocial support and activities of daily living. Care coordination and transition planning form foundation of care.
Responsibilities:
Sets up dialysis machine and check for disinfecting solution.
Responsible to initiate and discontinue dialysis including ability to cannulate an AV fistula and Gortex graft; initiate and discontinue dialysis via permanent and temporary dialysis catheter.
Monitors patient while dialyzing and intervene appropriately during adverse events.
Prepares dialyzer for a reprocessing procedure post dialysis.
Documents according to hospital and unit specific guidelines to accurately reflect care provided immediately after performing procedure or task.
Collect water for analysis, monitors water quality and reports results to unit manager.
Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification in nephrology technology from one of the organizations below within 18 months from hire: Board of Nephrology Examiners - Nursing - Technology (BONENT)or Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) National Nephrology Certification Organization (NNCO)or Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC).
