SUMMARY The Manager of Information Systems - Revenue Cycle Applications will oversee the staff and information systems that implement and maintain Munson Healthcare's revenue cycle applications. The scope of this responsibility encompasses patient scheduling, patient registration, HIM functions (such as coding, computer assisted coding, clinical documentation improvement, medical records release), and patient billing functions/solutions.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, Healthcare or related field required with eight (8) years of experience in Information Systems. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, twelve years of progressively more responsible experience in information systems required.
A minimum of four (4) years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle applications/functions required.
Experience with installing healthcare applications in a multi-site, multi-platform environment preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Must possess strong problem solving and conflict resolution abilities and experience in diplomacy. Must be able to communicate and interact effectively and professionally with all customers, both internal and external to IS. High degree of confidentiality required.
Demonstrated customer focus/orientation is required.
Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise a large staff of diverse employees.
ORGANIZATION This is a management level position with a reporting relationship to a Director of Information Systems.
Must maintain a professional working relationship with the other members of IS management and staff.

Contributes to the team orientation of the IS Department and, as such, is responsible for proper communication between the Revenue Cycle Applications Department and user department members.
Oversees the strategy, implementation, and maintenance of solutions supporting the acute and ambulatory revenue cycle functions.
Prepares department capital and operation budgets and is responsible for the financial performance of the department.
Reviews and evaluates the employees within the Revenue Cycle Applications team.
Provides direction to staff and management on policies, procedures, technology and developments within the Revenue Cycle Applications Department.
Working with the Security Officer, provides security, confidentiality and compliance to HIPAA, The Joint Commission, etc.
Works with the Help Desk to make sure our customer support / application knowledge base is up-to-date and the proper education is provided to the Help Desk personnel when a system is turned over to support.
Evaluates and maintains working relationships with software and technology vendors.
Assists with the IT strategic planning effort.
Responsible for the design of the Revenue Cycle Applications Department. This includes setting direction for application, integration, capital investment, etc. Also included is working with the other Applications Departments (Clinical and Non-Clinical) to ensure processes are standardized.
Responsible for collaborating with customer departments to build strong working relationships, clear delineation of roles and responsibilities, transparency, and trust.
Reviews industry trends as it relates to areas of responsibility. This may include knowledge of scheduling, registration, eligibility checking, prior authorizations, coding/CAC, CDI, billing, etc. Specific attention should be given to solutions that benefit the revenue cycle functions.
Ensures on-call responsibilities are covered for the Revenue Cycle Applications Department during vacation or sick time (7x24 hour). Shares on-call responsibilities with other members of the IS management team.
Installs software releases in order to stay within manufacturer guidelines and support issues.
Assist with licensing of any software specific to the department. This may include tracking and understanding how software is licensed and staying within the license agreements.
Ensures all Revenue Cycle Applications disaster recovery documentation is up-to-date and frequent tests are performed.
Provides assistance to other areas of IS in troubleshooting and solving system problems. This includes second and third level support for all calls received related to the department.
Ensure the appropriate educational opportunities are available to the Revenue Cycle Applications staff within the education budgets within IS.
May be required to work closely with appropriate vendors for support to resolve problems or in system troubleshooting.
Ensures that staff adheres to Implementation Methodology (and other methodologies that are developed) including project definitions, communication plans, education plans, testing plans, etc.
Provides support to all revenue cycle departments/functions within the healthcare system. This includes understanding that each hospital has strategic objectives that may unique or different from other system hospitals.
Maintains competency level by attending education sessions, vendor sessions, appropriate research, etc.
Assists with any prioritization issues between conflicting projects.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
