Responsible for the day to day management of the Online Resources and Publications department including supervising and training staff, assisting in creation of content plan to meet budget goals and managing its implementation, budgeting, overseeing and implementing content quality system, and managing product development processes. 40% Manage Online Resources and Publications Department Operations
- Manage the daily operations of the online resources and publications department. Establish operational objectives and delegate assignments to department staff. Plan and direct department work.
- In conjunction with the Associate Director and Manager Quality, Curation and Editing/Production, create the publications and online resources content schedules.
- Collaborate and coordinate with marketing manager and business development manager to assist with ensuring effective product marketing and training. Communicate planned schedules, create effective product marketing language, and review drafts. Assist in soliciting contributor interviews, videos, and photos. Create or direct the creation of select content for social media. Select featured products for promotion and collaborate on plans for related promotional efforts at events.
- Manage the implementation of content plan to meet budget and product goals. Plan and allocate resources and staff to ensure deadlines for content production and distribution are met.
- Monitor and document standards and processes for content creation to maximize efficiency, productivity, and quality of ICLE products and services.
- Develop and monitor quality standards in collaboration with the Associate Director.
- Ensure that content is produced in accordance with ICLE quality standards, content creation system, and relevant brand standards. Identify quality issues and propose solutions to Associate Director.
- Review and lead problem-solving efforts to create efficiencies and reduce expenses for content production and department operations. Recommend and develop efficiencies and ensure documentation of processes.
- Ensure staff are identifying, recruiting, developing, supporting and maintaining effective working relationships with contributors. Ensure that contributor pool is representative of the Michigan Bar and meet ICLE standards of excellence.
- In collaboration with Associate Director, manage and handle compliance with contracts related to content acquisition, creation and management.
- Represent department at ICLE meetings. Provide leadership to resolve issues concerning the department. Collaborate across departments.
- Oversee adherence to proper University and ICLE HR and financial controls and procedures within the department. Includes reviewing and approving department p-card activity for business appropriateness and correct coding.
20% Team Management, Administration and Supervision of Staff
- Hire, evaluate, coach, train, develop and discipline staff; determine their assignments; and review their work.
- Create and manage timelines, set and adjust work schedules, priorities and projects for assigned staff. Evaluate and approve work output, appraise department productivity. Verify department timesheets.
- Plan and manage ongoing staff training in all relevant areas including customer discovery, adult-learning and education, volunteer management, and legal writing and research. Review and update training.
- Promote team development. Empower employees to be responsible for their own work and goals. Delegate responsibility, require accountability, and provide regular feedback.
- Organize and lead department meetings.
- Align department’s practices and decisions with ICLE’s strategic direction. Ensure staff are aware and trained on ICLE’s strategic direction, strategic initiatives, and market research findings.
20% Product Development and Innovation
- Assist the Associate Director with ongoing customer needs assessment by making assignments and providing direction to staff lawyers, reviewing their analysis, and assisting in synthesizing results. Ensure regular contact with customers in collaboration with Associate Director and consistent with ICLE strategic direction.
- Provide regular communication to staff about customer research findings and product development. Ensure staff regularly review, understand, and apply findings to their work. Assist the Associate Director with communicating product vision and business purpose.
- Responsible for ensuring that product improvement and new development moves forward in a timely manner by creating project plans, assigning and reviewing work, coordinating across the Institute, and meeting established deadlines. Resolve issues and provide direction.
- Ensure product development adheres to specified business and quality standards.
- Assist the Associate Director with the creation, review and revision of policy database. Effectively communicate new and revised policies across the Institute.
- Lead strategic objectives as assigned. Assist Associate Director in leading larger strategic initiatives.
