Position Description:
This position will manage and further develop an enterprise resiliency component related to the Acronis Backup imaging of laboratory computer systems. The role will involve duties related to all aspects of the Acronis Backup platform, including management of the application servers, licenses, backup schedules, reporting, system monitoring and troubleshooting/resolving backup failures.
The position will work with the resiliency team to onboard and integrate all our Research & Development Division instruments into the Acronis system, and further develop processes around the Acronis platform including disaster recovery analysis and planning, image verification testing for recovery, storage capacity planning, etc. Close partnership with various IT teams and business leads will be required to support all aspects of Acronis.
Detailed tasks will include but not be limited to:
Planning, installation, and testing of Acronis software updates on management console. Includes close partnership with the Lab System Validation (LSV) team, updating/reviewing System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) documentation, and executing GxP test scripts.
Monitoring the Acronis platform for failed backups. Troubleshoot and resolve as needed or escalate to on-site Lab Computing teams for assistance.
Monitor storage utilization and work directly with Scientific Computing product team to ensure proper amount of storage is allocated.
Work directly with lab system owners to ensure backups meet the requirements of the Acronis system (large data files are excluded, etc.)
Develop and implement a process to capture backups of local databases.
Coordinate monthly downtime for installation of Windows and SQL security patches.
Manage and update both the Acronis agents and recovery boot media as necessary.
Manage lab computer lifecycle (remove retired clients / delete backups from storage, ensure new computers are added to backup plans / initial backups captured, etc.)
Develop a process to validate backups being captured to ensure successful restores.
Engage Acronis technical support as needed to resolve both client and server related issues.
Generate reports to monitor backups (failures, backups not responding, offline systems, etc.)
Manage Acronis licenses and work with various IT teams to reduce support costs across all divisions.
Engage directly with procurement to ensure annual renewals are completed as necessary.
Develop and execute an Acronis global Disaster Recovery plan/SOP for each site (includes executing mock scenarios, etc.)
Position Qualifications :
Education Minimum Requirement:
- 4 year degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information systems, cyber security, or closely related discipline
Required Experience and Skills:
Experience with laboratory systems and working in a GxP environment
2+ years experience in managing Acronis Backup
Experience with SDLC processes and documentation
Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills to interface directly with IT teams and scientific colleagues.
Strong Windows support and troubleshooting skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in managing small to medium scale IT projects.
