Position Summary
The successful candidate will direct the MSU Assay Development and Drug Repurposing Core (ADDRC). The candidate will be a key member of the Drug Discovery Program team, interacting with the other cores / facilities and individuals in the program. S/he will work with faculty, staff, and students to design, develop, and implement biochemical and cell-based high-throughput screens. The director will also oversee the compound collection of the ADDRC and develop strategies for building the compound collection with synthetic or natural product substances in coordination with faculty, students, MSU personal and outside collaborators. S/he will also participate in strategic planning for enhancing capabilities of MSU Drug Discovery. Support in writing research grant applications and executing studies required for their success as well as teaching activities related to drug discovery are also expected. Supervision of a research assistant may be required. Also, the individual will perform or oversee maintenance of equipment, manage service contracts, evaluate equipment needs, and undertake research in support of new equipment

Required Degree
Doctorate -Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or Medicinal
Minimum Requirements
PhD in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or a related discipline is required. A demonstrated understanding and practice of assay development, high-throughput screening, screening triage and hit identification and a demonstrated willingness to work in the team environment is desired.
Desired Qualifications
A minimum of 8 years of experience in drug discovery, high throughput screening assay development and implementation is required. Experience in managing a core facility with extensive user support is highly desired.
