Position Summary
The Department of Teacher Education at Michigan State University is seeking outstanding candidates for anticipated fixed-term (non-tenure stream) faculty positions in elementary, secondary, or special education teacher preparation. This is a part-time position (Academic one-year appointment - August through May). Primary responsibilities may be in the Lansing area or at university off-campus sites in the Chicago, Southeast Michigan, or Grand Rapids areas.
Responsibilities will include the following: Working with teacher interns and their mentor teachers during a year-long internship required for initial teacher certification; Observation, communication, meetings and assessment of each intern’s teaching in accordance with program standards and assessment tools; serving as liaison with P-12 partners, under the direction of an area coordinator; providing high-quality teacher education for interns in individual and small group settings; attending required field instructor and mentor meetings; contributing to program assessment, ongoing program improvement, and accreditation. Submission of records for observation visits, achievements, communications, professional development of interns; ability to handle difficult conversations across various parties.

Required Degree
Masters
Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree in education or education-related field.
Appropriate K-12 teaching experience, commitment to working as part of a team, and excellent communication and leadership skills. Advanced technical skills in either PC or MAC computers.
Desired Qualifications
Doctoral degree in a related field. Experience in teacher leadership, adult learning or preservice teacher preparation.
Familiarity with a range of technology tools, including educational technologies, assistive technologies, and productivity tools (e.g. Google, Microsoft Office).
