Summary:
Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in the preventative maintenance (PM), breakdown maintenance and continuous improvement of a variety of machines used to shape parts or products using with Die Casting, CNC and automated machinery. Responsible for ordering appropriate parts within a budget to maintain machinery to optimal standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervisory
Supervises maintenance technicians assuring machinery is running in a timely, cost effective manner. Additionally, interprets company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations. Manages maintenance employee time, attendance, and paid time off requests. Performs coaching activities regarding personnel activities, provides both positive reinforcement for jobs well done as well as corrective actions as necessary. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists employees in solving work problems. Leads succession planning efforts and training within the maintenance departments. This includes coordinating training resources for current and potential future maintenance personnel to facilitate employee development. Work to train maintenance associates on repairs as necessary to promote continued learning within the department and prevent any one person from solely being responsible for any one aspect of product maintenance i.e., cross-train and develop, particularly in the areas of troubleshooting and problem solving. Suggest and implements changes in working conditions (shifts and times) and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the maintenance team. Provides feedback to Maintenance Planner regarding PM status, relevance, accuracy and sends Request for Changes as necessary to improve the PM system.
Maintenance Specific
Directs employees in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards. Must be able to confer with multiple departments to communicate needs and coordinate activity. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Reviews employees' checklists and the work performed to ensure accuracy with relationship to job duties. Ensure PMs are completed in timely manner as designated and reported properly. Responsible for ensuring all die cast machine safety systems are in good working order. Perform Die Cast, CNC and CMM machine repairs as necessary, as well as conventional machinery such as drills, lathes, taps, etc. Maintains PLC equipment accuracy.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical discipline degree is required (or equivalent years' experience), along with 3-5 years job experience in a Maintenance environment.
- Experience in the automotive industry and lean manufacturing is a plus.
- Personal computer skills, including the use of ERP software, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Significant experience with PLC, hydraulics, electrical and mechanical systems.
- Leadership skills including Project management, time management, personnel, and facilities management.
- Ability to assist with in house training of all employees (i.e., hi-lo, overhead crane, etc.)
- Ability to be on call 24/7, does not require 24/7 presence, but must be able to develop and maintain escalation protocol procedures to maintain plant operations.
- Strong understanding of SPC, blueprints, machine schematics and advanced mathematics.
