This is a skilled position involving the operation and care of the Sewer Division's video inspection and locating equipment which includes the panorama mainline inspection unit, the rigid "push" camera, and locating system.
Work involves the responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the camera inspection equipment used for evaluating the City's collection system, which includes 330 miles of storm, sanitary, and combined sewers. Operation of assigned equipment is the predominate task, but other equipment and manual work as needed may be performed.
ILLUSTRATIVE JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive)
- Operates a panorama mainline inspection unit, rigid "push" camera system, and rigid locating equipment.
- Records and stores the mainline sewer and storm video footage utilizing the provided panorama software.
- Records and stores the "push" camera footage utilizing the rigid software.
- Performs dye testing to confirm sewer leads and other connections.
- Works with contractors and residents to identify lead locations.
- Codes video footage utilizing the industry standard Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP), Lateral Assessment Certification Program (LACP), and Manhole Assessment Certification Program (MACP) methods for coding.
- Operates other related sewer department equipment when necessary.
- Changes various attachments on equipment and makes field adjustments, lubricates, fuels and cleans equipment as needed.
- Performs occasional inter-departmental duties on special projects.
- Performs general Water and Sewer maintenance and operates a variety of equipment as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:
- Sewer department's maintenance and cleaning work order program, maps, standby procedure, and safety protocols.
- The methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance, installation, and repair in storm, sanitary, and combined sewer lines.
- The occupational hazards and standard safety precautions necessary for the safe operation of assigned equipment.
Ability to:
- Perform job duties with proper safety work methods and procedures.
- Understand and read maps/drawings/blueprints/GIS mapping of sewer infrastructure and the ability accurately record the information.
- Maintain composure and exercise good judgement when answering demanding questions.
- Make operating adjustments and recognize operating deficiencies in assigned equipment.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationship with employees, contractors, and the general public.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and the ability to understand and accurately follow oral, verbal, and written instructions.

Minimum Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan driver's license plus a CDL with an "A" endorsement.
- Must possess a minimum of one (1) year operating experience with the panorama camera system.
- Must possess and maintain PACP, LACP, and MACP certifications.
- Previous working knowledge of Pipe Logic, Microsoft Applications, Rigid, City Works, and other related software.
- Must have and wear protective footwear. Foot wear must provide toe protection and be certified as meeting ASTM F2413-18 Standards for impact and compression resistance, and puncture resistance. Must cover employee's ankle and be a minimum of 6 inch boot.
