A CATIA Automation Engineer is needed in Saline, Michigan through Belcan Technical Services. The primary responsibility Basic CATIA Modeling, Plane, Line, Point, Pad, Extrude Surface, etc.
To qualify for this position, BS in engineering/design, 5+ years of Automotive Design Experience using CATIA, 3+ years of Parametric CAD modeling experience with CATIA V5, CATIA V5 experience should include Part Design, Generative Shape Design, Assembly Design, Drafting, Knowledge Advisor and see below for more requirements.
CATIA Automation Engineer
Description:
Basic understanding of common CATIA functions:
* Plane, Line, Point, Pad, Extrude Surface, etc.
* General drawing commands
Advanced CATIA Modelling
Understanding & proven ability to use advanced CATIA functions, ie:
* FreeStyle, PowerCopy, Surface/Solid modelling techniques, etc.
* Actual drawing creation experience
Basic understanding of PowerCopy, UDF, Document Template, etc. ie:
* "Basic geometry template" creation, modification, understanding
* General understanding of parent/child relationships
Understanding & proven ability to create/modify/troubleshoot advanced templates, ie:
* "Advanced functionality template", including: adv. geometry, dynamic geometry creation, embedded check/rule/script.
* Strong understanding of parent/child relationships
* Proven ability to troubleshoot templates created by others.
* Understanding of modular template building strategy.
Basic Knowledgeware
Basic knowledge of the CATIA Knowledgeware workbench
* Basic Rule/Formula/Check creation
* Parameter creation & understanding of units
Advanced Knowledgeware
Advanced knowledge of the CATIA Knowledgeware workbench
* Advanced Rule/Formula/Check creation including dynamic geometry
creation/modification/measurement/analysis
* Understanding of Actions/Reactions and event processing (before update, instantiation, etc.)
Basic CATIA Prog. (VB, VBA, VBS, etc.)
Basic knowledge VB 6.0 (VBA), VB.NET, vbs, CATVBS:
* Basic VB understanding (not involving CATIA) including:
- Function & Subroutine creation
- Public/Private keywords
- Basic understanding of Objects, Methods,
Adv. CATIA Prog. (VB, VBA, VBS, etc.)
Extensive knowledge of VB 6.0 (VBA), VB.NET, vbs, CATVBS:
* Extensive VB understanding (not involving CATIA) including:
- Recursion
- Classes, Types, dlls, References
- Windows (and others) APIs
* Extensive understanding of VB CATIA libraries
- Advanced geometry creation/modification/analysis
- Proven ability to navigate/understand new/unknown objects, methods, functions via library
documentation, Object Browser, etc.
- Advanced drawing creation/modification
Design/Engineering Knowledge & Experience
Design/engineering knowledge specific to automotive product (body/interior)
* Manufacturing process understanding, ie.
- Die draw, draft, springback, etc.
* Understanding of static structural analysis
- Beam analysis, manual FEA, support types, section analysis, etc.
* General Math skills including:
- Basic trig, vector math, algebra

Requirements:
5 ~ 10 years of Automotive Design Experience using CATIA
3 ~ 5 years of Parametric CAD modeling experience with CATIA V5 is required.
CATIA V5 experience should include Part Design, Generative Shape Design, Assembly Design, Drafting, Knowledge Advisor, Knowledge Expert, DMU Space Analysis, and DMU Navigator Workbenches.
Experience with creation & modification of PowerCopies/UDFs/Templates required.
Familiarity with DMU Kinematics & Fitting, Functional Tolerancing & Annotation, and Knowledge Expert workbenches is beneficial.
Visual Basic and/or C++ experience.
Experience programming for CATIA is beneficial.
BS in engineering/design or related field is beneficial.
Experience with html, css, php, etc. is beneficial.
Must be able to create documentation using MS PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
