Job Description
Job Summary
Under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist and in collaboration with other members of the health care team, uses clinical skills to accurately simulate on conventional and CT simulators, deliver, verify and record routine courses of treatment. Assumes shift accountability including machine warm-ups. Utilizes independent judgment and problem solving skills in communicating with patients/families and employees.
Essential Functions
Accurately performs routine radiation treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Accurately follows, maintains and completes the patient treatment record on a daily basis. Responsible for general dose calculations.
Charges correctly at point of service on a daily basis.
Assumes shift accountability for maintenance of quality services. Responsible for opening the department and competent in machine warm-ups. Responsible for completing the crash cart checklist.
Accurately simulate basic treatment fields (3-D planning) in a timely manner and collect all pertinent simulation information as well as entering pertinent information in the approved departmental based record and verify system.
Respectfully identifies the educational needs of patients and family members/students/health care professionals and implements appropriate teaching strategies or makes appropriate referrals. Actively participates in the achievement and maintenance of patient satisfaction scores, by researching and resolving problems.
Cleans, disinfects and maintains supplies and equipment in the treatment and simulation rooms. When time permits thoroughly cleans and straightens control area and treatment/simulation rooms.
Qualifications
Required Bachelor's Degree a related field; graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program
skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through less than 2 years of related experience Required
CRT-Radiation Therapist - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross
