PLANNING & STRATEGY DIVISION
FIELD SUPERINTENDENT - ENVIRONMENTAL DUE DILIGENCE (EDD)
The City of Detroit Demolition Department respectfully requests resumes in order to establish a list of potential candidates for the open position of Field Superintendent, Environmental Due Diligence. This position sits within the Planning & Strategy Division of the Demolition Department.
The Field Superintendent position is intended for persons interested in a historic opportunity to work with the largest blight elimination program in the nation. The Detroit Demolition Program is responsible for the demolition and remediation of thousands of properties throughout the City.
The Field Superintendent will report to the Environmental Due Diligence Manager overseeing environmental due diligence (EDD). The primary duty of the Field Superintendent is the management of a team of Field Liaisons who regularly monitor contractors performing environmental due diligence.
Examples of Duties
Manage a team of Field Liaisons that oversee fieldwork performed by contractors.
Regularly monitor contractors performing environmental due diligence Scopes of Services before, during, and after work to ensure full compliance with the Scope and all applicable Federal and State laws and regulations.
Record non-compliance of the Scope of Services as directed.
Complete reports and checklists, manage and monitor data as directed using a variety of databases, that include, but are not limited to Salesforce, Smartsheets, and Google Docs / Sheets.
Investigate, document, and conduct follow-up activities in response to citizens' complaints as directed and work with contractors to mitigate the situation causing the complaint.
Accept and complete various assignments as directed in a professional and timely manner.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Technology, particularly using computers and smartphones to capture photos, take notes, review reports, and receive/send emails.
Hazardous / Regulated materials survey and inspection, preferred
Hazardous / Regulated materials (particularly asbestos) abatement, preferred.
General residential construction preferred.
ABILITY TO:
Able to understand and fulfill oral and written instructions
Ability to work well in a fast-paced and demanding environment
Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask

The City of Detroit is pleased to continue to provide a medical plan option to our Administrative Special Services Employees for the 2020 plan year. This plan is provided by Blue Care Network of Michigan and utilizes their PCP Focus Network. This plan provides you with the opportunity to receive an enhanced level of benefits and pay less out of your paycheck for your medical plan. There are two important requirements that you should consider and understand if you should decide to enroll in this plan. You will have to choose a primary care physician that serves within the PCP Focus network. This primary care physician coordinates your care. The network includes over 22,000 Primary Care Physicians. There are also Wellness Requirements that you (the subscriber) must meet in order to remain in the enhanced level of benefit.
Administrative Special Services Staff (Exempt) are eligible for the following benefits:
CURRENT SICK LEAVE - Granted (3) months of continuous service. (1) day per month, not to exceed (12) days per year.
VACATION - Granted (1) day per pay period, not to exceed 20 days per fiscal year
PAID HOLIDAYS - Granted if paid for 600 straight time hours in the (12) months prior to the holiday
MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT - Granted on same basis as regular employees.
WORKERS COMPENSATION - Covered by applicable laws.
UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION - Covered by applicable laws.
HOSPITALIZATION - You are eligible to purchase healthcare benefits for yourself and your dependents under a group rate. You will be responsible for the full premium, no employer contribution will be applied. Please review the Health Care Plan Options Booklet for more detailed information.
