SUMMARY PACS Associate is responsible for the daily operations of the Picture Archiving and Communications Systems. PACS Associates have a foot in two worlds: clinical healthcare and information technology. For this reason, the most successful associates communicate clearly with highly technical network personnel, while understanding the diagnostic process of the radiologist.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS An Associate's Degree with 3 years experience in Radiology, PACS/RIS and/or the Information Technology environment preferred. Degree must be in the Radiologic Sciences, Information Technology or other healthcare related field. (In lieu of a Degree, must have 5 years experience in a Radiology and/or Information Technology environment.)
Experience in Health Care / Radiology / Information Technology preferred.
Proven ability to perform basic system troubleshooting functions is required.
Experience with integrated Radiology PACS/RIS systems preferred.
Experience with personal computing hardware and software required.
ORGANIZATION Under the general supervision of the PACS Administrator and/or Director of Radiology Systems. Must maintain a working relationship with all Radiology staff utilizing the hardware and software of the PACS/RIS environment.
May receive direction, advice and guidance from the Radiology Administrative Director.
On-Call coverage is required to be a resource for Radiology Staff in PACS/RIS operations and their activities based upon established departmental policy.
Must maintain a professional working relationship with all Radiology and other Hospital staff utilizing Radiology PACS / RIS systems.
Must maintain a professional working relationship with all other Munson Health Care facilities.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
Monitors Radiology PACS/RIS system Work Lists and other system components and makes appropriate communication to provide maximum availability and throughput for Patient care.
May be required to take appropriate actions to correct Radiology system and PACS errors or to continue operations when individual units of the Radiology system continuum malfunction.
Contributes to the Radiology Team orientation and as such, is responsible for proper communication with appropriate Radiology Department Staff and other pertinent Radiology customers.
May give direction and guidance to Radiology staff involved in the PACS/RIS Patient Care environment.
In an On-Call/Support situation is ultimately responsible for shift coverage when On-Call.
Maintains working knowledge of Radiology PACS/RIS hardware and operating systems and is responsible for technical support on various parts of systems. Performs tasks related to maintaining a viable, on-going operating environment and demonstrates technical proficiency in key aspects of Radiology PACS/RIS technology.
Takes responsibility to identify and develop the skills necessary to meet the requirements of new PACS/RIS technologies employed at Munson and other changes in the Radiology Department.
Provides PACS/RIS support to other Munson Health Care facilities.
Provides assistance to Radiology application areas in trouble shooting and solving PACS/RIS system related problems.
Performs other duties / responsibilities as assigned.
Systems: PACs/RIS systems include but not limited to Clario, M Modal, Intelerad, StatRad, Radius, CAMM, MRS, GE senoiris, Powerscribe, Ambra. A working knowledge of all of these systems is expected of the team member. The PACs Associate when taking call is expected to answer within 10 minutes maximum.
