SUMMARY
This position utilizes case management methods to facilitate employee's return to maximum health and to work. It is responsible for claims administration and audits, report preparation, and compilation of statistics.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
An Associate's degree and three (3) years of work experience in occupational health and medicine, vocational rehabilitations, employee health, human resources, or related field required. A clinical degree in an Allied Health field is preferred.
Certification showing continuing education related to workers compensation case management, vocational rehabilitation, or employment related employee/employer issues preferred.
Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAA) and an advanced working knowledge of Michigan worker's compensation law.
Prior case management experience with an emphasis in work injury management preferred. Must have the ability to work in a high volume caseload environment and deal effectively with rapidly changing priorities.
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, concise and accurate manner, both verbally and in writing.
Proven ability to problem solve in an objective and professional manner without excessive direction or supervision.

ORGANIZATION
This position works independently with minimal supervision. It interfaces with employees, managers, insurance carriers, medical personnel, and attorneys. Reports to the Human Resource Manager - Absence Management.
SPECIFIC DUTIES

Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.
Serves as work injury case manager for Munson Healthcare employees; may be required to answer the work injury hotline/VOICE system; directs care of employees as needed. Follows injured employees through the reporting, treatment, recovery and return to work process to the final determination of the claim.
Responsible for maintaining up-to-date Munson employee incident information in the electronic record system; complies with OSHA record keeping in regards to days lost and/or restricted.
Works with the Occupational Health & Medicine (OHM) physicians and OHM clinic staff to serve as a resource for work injury patients.
Coordinates medical treatment plans and physician recommendations to ensure a successful and timely return to work.
Provides frequent and appropriate communication with injured employees, managers, and the Third Party Administrator.
May give consultation and direction to case managers on the team with less experience. Coordinates communication with fellow case managers to share information on new rules and regulations that may impact case management with work injured employees.
Evaluates outcomes and participates in performance improvement efforts to implement measures to impact program outcome.
Promotes and develops a collaborative relationship with providers in all areas of specialty that may impact treatment and recovery of work impaired employees.
