Black & Veatch is recruiting for a Construction Manager for an anticipated five-year USAID Program to provide engineering technical support for water and wastewater projects in Jordan. The technical support will include, but is not limited to, engineering assessments, studies, designs, and construction management in the water and wastewater sector.
Job Summary
The Construction Manager will be located in the Project Office in Amman, Jordan. S/he will provide leadership for personnel involved with technical water and wastewater interventions. As Construction Manager, they will be responsible for oversight of all construction/rehabilitation contracts and the Construction Quality Control Team. Lead all aspects of construction lifecycle - assessment, design, procurement, construction, and oversight.
The Construction Manager must be flexible, pragmatic, and able to think creatively to implement activities in a responsive manner. Additionally, the Construction Manager must be willing to travel throughout Jordan as the security situation allows to carry out tasks assigned by the COP, to ensure proper management of the contract
Key Responsibilities
• The Construction Manager is considered Key Personnel.
• Accountable for performance from contract award throughout project implementation for meeting the project's objectives, sub-objectives, and deliverables.
• Manage the level of effort to ensure the all objectives, sub-objectives, activities, and deliverables are implemented on time and within budget.
• Take a hands-on approach, monitoring and actively managing the scope, cost, schedule, and quality performance.
• Actively participates in both internal and external technical meetings and leads internal and external monthly review meetings.
• Responsible for the technical adequacy of the deliverables, and for meeting the expectations of USAID within the agreed scope of work.
• Has direct access to the full technical resources of their relevant subcontractors' specialist pools.
Preferred Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering in a relevant engineering discipline.
• A minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant professional construction, project scheduling, material procurement, and field supervision experience, in a similar development setting.
• Demonstrated experience in leadership roles, strategic planning, and budget management.
• Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of science degree.

Typical office and construction environments that may include: extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions ( fumes , odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation). Sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods of time, lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
