Job Description
Diagnostic Strategist, Electrification Battery Systems
The Diagnostic Strategist is responsible for leading development, validation/verification, and compliance of the vehicle level Onboard Diagnostic system. We're seeking motivated candidates for Diagnostic Strategist calibration engineer positions in GM's Electrification group at the Milford Proving Ground.
The selected candidate will work on GM's hybrid/EV programs and be responsible for leading, developing, releasing, validation, and compliance of the on-board diagnostic controls and calibrations within the battery systems calibrationarea. The position involves significant in-vehicle and lab work, along with related analytical and performance verification activities.
Diagnostic Strategist Calibration engineers engage in cross-functional teams, are expected to handle multiple projects/priorities, and frequently need to balance planned and unplanned work. A typical week includes in-vehicle calibration & testing, lab/bench/analytical activities, and collaboration with algorithm/software and hardware engineers.
Diagnostic Strategist Calibration engineers participate in offsite development trips as well as onsite program team vehicle evaluations. In GM's Electrification group, diagnostic strategist calibration engineers at the Milford Proving ground are located in a unique facility dedicated to hybrid/EV development.
Role & Responsibilities:
* Manage overall diagnostic development plan
* Execute Engineering Standard Work
* Provide calibration leadership for product line diagnostic strategies
* Point contact or vertical diagnostic representative of the product team
* Support the verification group on assembly plant and field issues
* Program team representative to CPIT, VEC Diagnostic PDT, Safety PDT, OBDII COE, Export PDT, Certification, Validation, Powertrain, and other strategy meetings
* Interface for certification
* Execute individual training
* Adhere to all Safety Precautions and Requirements, and treat safety as the top priority during all work activities
Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
* Engineering Degree in Mechanical/Electrical, Computer/Computer Science, Chemical and/or Mathematics (ME or EE preferred)
* 5+ years of on-board vehicle diagnostic calibration experience (2+ years for a 6th level candidate)
* 5+ years of controls/calibration experience (2+ years for a 6th level candidate)
* 7+years of engineering industry experience(5+ years for a 6th level candidate)
* CARB OBD regulation knowledge
* Independent worker requiring little direction, and works well in a team environment
* Good leadership skills
* Excellent problem solving skills
* DFSS Black Belt
Preferred Qualifications:
* 7+ years of calibration experience in engine, transmission, or electrification(hybrid/EV)systems
* Experience with software processes / change control
* Experience working with CARB/EPA on OBD regulations
* Excellent planning and organizing skills
* Master degree in one of the required Engineering programs
