Job Description
As a Senior Product Engineer, you will be responsible for leading product development and integration activities. Responsibilities include utilizing engineering tools and processes to successfully develop components and systems for vehicle programs.
Effectively achieve program milestones by thorough and rigorous program management. You will coach and lead suppliers to timely execution of program deliverables with perfection.
Summary
In-vehicle connectivity is among the fastest growing technologies in the global auto industry used to support development of cutting-edge solutions related to autonomous vehicles, car sharing, infotainment, Over-the-Air software updates and vehicle-to-vehicle communications. We are looking for creative and enthusiastic candidates to become part of a fast-moving team who want to lead the future direction of the automotive industry.
The PLCM will be an enabler in smart charging features and will play a critical role in our EV future. As a PLCM PDT Lead DRE, you will own the release function of the PLCM component. You will work with the team to understand requirements, architectures, rollout plans, vehicle milestone. This role will primarily focus on supporting the cross-functional teams through product development and HW integration elements for the Power Line Communication Module (PLCM).
The role will require you dedicate yourself to becoming the PLCM PDT lead and the "go-to" person for specifications, status, usage matrix and issue resolution.
Job Description
At this level you are expected to operate with a high level of independent discernment and are typically responsible for implementing functional strategy, administering and coordinating programs, counseling and advising management.
As a fully-qualified individual contributor who has thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the function, you will provide expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems.
Resolve highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research.
Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
Skilled and proficient with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Rely mostly on extensive personal experience and discernment to plan and accomplish goals.
You will perform multiple tasks. Lead and likely direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead large multi-functional group PDT meetings and drive resolution of HW/SW defects, integration, release issues, and schedule timing.
* Own master program timing (supplier/vehicle)
* Lead resolution of technical issues
* Aligns with Program Manager and Design Release Engineer on deliverables
* Act as main interface to supplier
* Work as one team with business owners, suppliers, validation, IT, and others.
* Provide guidance for end-to-end solutions
* Participate in all design and tech reviews.
* Review and approve applicable requirement specifications.
* Ensure all regulatory requirements are being met.
* Support Change Requests that are submitted in Rational Team Concert (RTC)
* Develop and maintain Telematics vehicle compatibility rollout strategy.
* Work to remove development and implementation roadblocks.
* Lead PPAP
* Manage ICDs
Required Skills and Experience
* 5+ years of product development, electrical or software engineering experience.
* Experience as PDT Lead or Lead DRE for a production module
* Experience with automotive electrical systems and functional sub-systems.
* Expertise in Telematics, Connectivity, or Infotainment in-vehicle development process, product development, execution, systems engineering, vehicle integration, or validation.
* Experience with in-vehicle communication technologies and architectures
* High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with other global organizations within both the technical and business communities.
* Excellent cross-cultural communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience
* Proficient in vehicle data communication systems (CAN, LVDS, LIN, ETHERNET)
* In-depth knowledge of verification and validation process (component-, bench-, vehicle-level) Solid understanding of embedded software development, testing and associated tools (e.g., DOORS, Rhapsody)
* Knowledge of EV charge architecture
* Knowledge of HW development security principles, concepts, and best practices
* Knowledge of diagnostic test tools, vehicle bus architectures & standards, OBD-II, SAE J1979, AUTOSAR, vehicle power modes.
Education and Training
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
* Master's degree preferred.
