The Senior Mainframe Modernization Architect will lead our mainframe modernization initiative which consists of fortifying legacy applications while developing plans to migrate key business functionality to the cloud or on-premises virtual infrastructure. This individual must have a proven foundation in design, development, and implementation of mainframe applications that integrate seamlessly with web and cloud hosted applications in a real-time enterprise environment.The successful candidate must have outstanding problem-solving skills, strong business judgment, and demonstrated technical experience leading multi-functional teams.
About the Team:
As an Architect on this team, you will support GM's Global Purchasing and Supply Chain business as we execute GM's vision of zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion.
Additional Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
* A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent relevant working experience
* 5+ years demonstrated ability as a Solutions Architect or Enterprise Architect leading the design and development of large mainframe enterprise solutions
* 7 + years of experience in Mainframe development with technologies such as COBOL, PL/I, JCL, DB2, IMS, ANSI C, and IBM MQ
* Experience integrating mainframe and midrange applications and migrating mainframe applications to the cloud or on-premises virtual infrastructures
* Must exhibit outstanding communication and presentation skills
* Experience with modern mainframe toolsets to help with discovery, profiling, and migration automation
* Expertise in resilient application design and secure coding practices
* Expertise in executing technical deep-dives on software design, code, and test artifacts
* Experience with various project delivery and development methodologies (e.g. Agile/SAFe, TDD etc.)
* Experience with utilizing software development tools and standard methodologies, i.e. Spring, Azure DevOps, Rdz, IntelliJ, TDD, BDD, unit testing, code coverage, secure code analysis, source code management, etc.
* CI/CD experience in defining and managing the build, deployment, and release pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience designing and executing Zero-Downtime migrations
* Familiarity with mainframe infrastructure such as storage, IMS/DB2, MQ Series, and security
* Expertise using object oriented programming methodologies and design patterns
* Hands-on experience using JAVA, REST, microservices, and containers (Pivotal Cloud Foundry or Docker/Kubernetes)
