Job Description
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible to ensure the cleanliness of all building locations
As assigned by the Facilities Supervisor. This individual must be a team player and being willing to support other maintenance staff as necessary to ensure the cleanliness of company buildings.
Job Responsibilities:
- Complete inventory of cleaning supplies as directed by the Facilities Supervisor.
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
- Clean frequently touched areas multiple times daily, to include doors, door handles, bathroom facets and dispensers.
- Ensure building entrance glass doors are cleaned.
- Ability to respond to urgent situations, such as spills, that require quick action
- Spot wash walls
- Restock kitchen with paper supplies, coffee, napkins and other resources.
- Clean cafeteria, refrigerators, appliances, tables and mop lunch areas.
- Dust/clean furniture in lobbies, conference rooms
- Clean offices as assigned.
- Ensure lobbies are cleaned daily.
- Maintain and clean restrooms to include; restocking of dispensers, emptying trash, cleaning and sanitize fixtures, cleaning mirrors, spot cleaning partition doors and walls, sweeping and mopping tile floors, and cleaning toilets and urinals.
- Remove waste, empty trash and replace liners throughout company buildings
- Replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies for employee use
- Ensure paper products are properly stocked in restrooms, and cafeterias
- Perform or assist outside service personnel with minor repairs of facilities as directed by Supervisor.
- Perform light maintenance of janitorial equipment
- Assist with office set up and movement of office furniture as needed.
- Perform maintenance of grounds, including shoveling, salting walk ways, power washing and pulling of weeds.
- Notify Supervisor and/or HR about unsafe conditions, needed repairs, or maintenance required.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Other various tasks as assigned
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Must be able to do physical work and operate power equipment normally found in janitorial operations
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Have a strong attention to detail
- Must be able to manage time efficiently, work effectively independently and as a team
- Ability to take direction
- Maintain a strong work output and seek additional work if assigned work is completed.
- Must have the ability to complete work outside or inside of buildings as assigned.
- Highly responsible & reliable
Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Previous cleaning or janitorial experience preferred
- Fork lift experience a plus
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding, follow detailed and uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend and reach. The employee is required to frequently walk, and reach. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or crawl, and communicate with co-workers and guests.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Be capable of wearing Personnel Protective Equipment as necessary to complete tasks.
