The Role
General Motors has needs for qualified Die Production Engineers. Working under minimal supervision, the skilled trades Die Production Engineer is responsible for die processing, formability, surfacing/compensation, and CAD model prep of all types of dies using various types of material.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company procedures
* Develop die operational processes (DOL - Die Operation Lineup) based on Product engineering math data
* Create die surfaces for draw, trim, flange and pierce dies utilizing UGNX
* Prepare die surface with required manufacturing and tryout attributes for purposes of machining
* Prepare engineering reports for use by customers utilizing MS office software
* Coordinate Buyoff for Die Construction meeting (Formability Package Validation)
* Analyze and validate Die Machining File / Data Prep Files released for CNC programming and Final Machining
* Develop optimized die surfaces based on die Bearing Zones & Reliefs strategies
* Develop, analyze and iterate die compensation requirements by die operation
* Develop and analyze virtual dimensional and surface quality performance
* Highly proficient utilization of UGNX, Autoform and Teamcenter
* Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union, management, and customers.
* Provide training to journeyperson Die Engineers in Autoform and UG/NX
* Assist in the development of training materials
* Develop standards & standardized work for the department
* Drive lessons learned based on feedback from manufacturing & construction

Key Requirements:
* Understanding of die design, die subsets and die functionalities.
* Understanding of material properties and formability analysis parameters such as stresses, strains, and thinning
* Ability to diagnose and solve formability issues in order to develop die faces utilizing Autoform and UGNX
* Solid experience in Die Layout of draw, trim, flange and pierce dies
* Understanding of die bearing zones & reliefs strategies
* Proficient in UGNX surface creation and surface compensation, including class "A" surfaces
* Ability to create NC prep data for CNC/CAM programming
Additional Job Description
Interested individuals must meet the following minimum qualifications:
* U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Die Maker or Die Design trade and/or a minimum six (6) years of documented experience as an Die Production Engineer (notarized documentation required)
* Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which includecomprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
* At least 18 years of age
* Eligible to work in the United States
* Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice.
General Motors UAW hourly employment offers a very competitive compensation and benefit package. An annual incentive payout is also available, as qualified.
Relocation and travel expenses will be the responsibility of the applicant.
