A Designer II job in New Hudson, Michigan is currently available through Belcan. To be considered for this role you will work closely with a small team of Engineers and Manufacturing to produce three-dimensional models and technical drawings of mechanical components. OVERVIEW: Mechanical Designers must work closely with a small team of Engineers and Manufacturing to produce three-dimensional models and technical drawings of mechanical components. This position requires the ability to create parametric models and technical drawings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SKILLS:
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Use CAD system to create 3D parametric models of components
* Maintain and report on clearances for stationary and moving parts
* Basic understanding of prototype and production manufacturing methods
* Ability to create Technical drawings utilizing GD&T
* Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
* Package and design components in large assembly models
* Vehicle and Product System Design & Development
* Ability to interface with other departments to accomplish tasks
* Ability to use Windows based computers (email, general software, MS Excel, etc.)
* Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing
* Able to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment
* Maintain a clean and organized work area
* Work safely to comply with all business expectations
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
* High School Diploma
* Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent experience
* Minimum of 5 years of experience working in CAD system
* Experience in the creation and detailing of technical drawings
* Good understanding of mechanisms and mechanics
DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
* 5 + years of experience working in CAD system
* Experience in CATIA is a must
* Understanding of Windchill PDM System
* Knowledge of vehicle architecture and systems
* Experience with vehicle-based protype manufacturing environments (Motorsports, Defense, or Automotive
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Working primarily in an office environment
* Occasionally work with manufacturing (support)
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
* 8am-4pm core (minimum) work hours (typically 45hrs per week average)
* Project surge support and additional effort as needed to achieve deadlines
