PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking an Prinicpal Engineer in Sterling Heights, MI.
The candidate will be responsible for developing the concept, design, and integration of electrical subsystems and components related to autonomous capability into military ground vehicle platforms. Autonomous capability includes but is not limited to sensor fusion, environmental perception/computer vision, navigation, control by wire and/or remote piloting, and fully unmanned operations. The candidate will be responsible for executing design trades, evaluating courses of action, and developing engineering design documentation such as trade studies to select best design solution, product specifications, interface control documents, preliminary and detailed design documents for autonomous electrical components at the system/subsystem level.
Develop Component and System level Requirements for Electrical System/Subsystem/Components of:
Autonomous military ground vehicles.
Conduct Concept Design Trades
Develop and evaluate electrical system architectures
Develop schematics/functional diagrams
Develop LRU interface control documents
Develop detailed design
Develop and review component and system level FMEAs/DFMEA analysis
Required Skills:
Working knowledge of hardware and software aspects involved with integrating sensors used in today's autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles such as day/night camera's, ultrasound, LIDAR, RADAR, IMU, computing engines, and other vehicle automotive sensors used in autonomous applications.
Working knowledge in the development of robust real-time algorithms for environment perception using sensor fusion and familiarity with developing algorithms that fuse the input from the various sensor systems for environment perception.
Familiarity with commercial safety standards related to adapting autonomous driving for commercial applications and potential adaptation to military vehicles.
The candidate must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic.
The candidate must have the ability to coordinate work with other engineering design disciplines as well as shop personnel.
The candidate must be willing to work in a lab and vehicle environment with high voltage and high power components.
This project requires excellent teamwork skills, technical writing skills, written communication skills, and oral communication skills.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering including experience in vehicle electrification, autonomous vehicle electrical system architecture, and autonomous vehicle controls.
Experience in electrical design for both manned and unmanned vehicle operation.
Experience in full autonomous and tele-operated electrical system design.
Experience in vehicle networking protocols tools such as CAN, Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553 and their associated diagnostic tools.
