SUMMARY The position of EMS Instructor is intended to involve the individual in a variety of levels of EMS Education for EMR, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, and Community Paramedic. This position may include secondary instructor and secondary lab instructor. The position reports directly to the Sr. Coordinator EMS Education (EMS Education Program Director).
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Current State of Michigan EMT provider license; Paramedic provider license preferred.
Assoc. Degree with 2 years of EMS experience OR 4 years of EMS experience and certification in a healthcare related area (EMT, Paramedic, MA, NA, etc...)
Demonstrated experience in instruction and have knowledge in methods of instruction testing, and evaluation of adult students preferred.
Have knowledge of the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards, and about evidenced informed clinical practice.
Work experience demonstrating progressive responsibility, professional growth in emergency medical services, be organized in daily work, be a self-starter, have an ability to meet timely deadlines, and demonstrate a positive work attitude.
ORGANIZATION
Interacts with and maintains excellent working relationships with employees of MREMSE, EMS students, physicians and physician assistants within the Emergency Services service line, area EMS agencies and providers, and members of the public. Roles in education include teaching, oversight and evaluations (student, instructor, program, and employer).
Must have excellent communication skills with staff and co-workers.
Reports directly to the Sr. Coordinator EMS Education (EMS Education Program Director).

Skills in the use of computers for general office activities, word-processing, data management and spread-sheet activities. Has functional familiarity with e-mail systems and the internet.
Maintains EMS clinical proficiency through field activities/hospital clinical time/clinical educational activities on a regular basis.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
