SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe CNC Machinist contributes to the production of medical devices by operating and performing basic set ups of CNC 3 and 4 Axis machines, with the ability to identify X, Y, Z and 0 coordinates. He/she is responsible for running multiple and varying CNC machines simultaneously, such as Lathes and Mill machines in addition to operating manual machine tools to cut, drill, shape, and finish quality products with some supervision.SHIFT
CHE - Shift 2 (12.5%) (United States of America - Michigan)WHAT YOU WILL DO
Supports the manufacturing process through the following activities:
- Set up and operate CNC machines, including performing tool changes, setting tool and work offsets
- Perform setups that are a low to medium level of complexity
- Adjust machine controls and change tool settings in order to keep dimensions within specified tolerances
- Load correct program to the machine from the S:/ drive
- Move controls to set cutting speeds and depths, feed rates, and to position tools in relation to work-pieces
- Select and properly load the correct fixtures for the job (proper tools, holders, clearances as needed)
- Set proper holding pressure on vises and collets
- Perform in-process inspection of parts to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators
- Train and mentor operators
- Sign off and verify CMM scans
- Verify previous operation documentation is correct
- Support quality and compliance by utilizing One Orchid global processes and complying with all Quality Management Systems (QMS) documentation
With a foundation in:
- Tool and work offsets
- Setup procedures (setup sheets, check sheets and control plans)
- Operational adjustments, including tool and fixture changes
- Determining tooling requirements at set-up
- Using edge finders and indicators (finding part zero by finding edge or indicating for location)
- Measuring skills with optical comparators, manual CMMs, bench comparators, MICS, calipers and gauge pins
- Machining terms and knowledge
- Cartesian coordinates
