Knowledge of basic math is required. Must have mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity. Must be able to read and write. It is necessary to use measuring instruments to perform quality procedures. In some situations the operator has to be able to use micrometers, calipers and dial indicators. Must be able to follow verbal instructions accurately.
Good attendance is a must.
Required activities involve standing for long hours. Must be able to withstand stress of repetitive motion activity for reasonable lengths of time. Good vision, hearing, and the ability to walk, squat, and bend over are necessary. May have to exercise lifting capability up to 30 lbs on a regular basis.
Must have willingness to discover potential problems before they cause the production of defective materials. Problem solving ability is a plus. Ability to work cooperatively with a team orientation is most helpful.
A forty hour work week is standard. At times it is necessary to work more than the usual 8 hour shift and forty hour week. There must be tolerance for conditions that allow for the presence of some welding smoke and noise levels that are not in excess of OSHA mandated limits.
