The Personnel Specialist is responsible for employee recruitment activities, maintaining all agency job postings across all platforms, administering candidate screenings, managing the MMI brand as an employer of choice, providing orientation to staff and scheduling interviews. The Personnel Specialist is classified as a confidential position and reports to the Director of Human Resources.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:. Two years of progressively responsible work experience in human resources or other relevant position and/or an Associates Degree in Human Resources/Business. Proficient in computer usage, especially social media, job posting sites, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook. Able to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and work in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment. Professional appearance and demeanor. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including grammar, spelling, written composition, and oral presentation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or closely related field. Experience in staffing, recruitment or personnel functions. Experience in interviewing and onboarding. Sales experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Develop and implement recruitment methods for assigned staff positions.
2. Coordinate interview process to ensure the most qualified applicant is selected, including screening applications, scheduling interviews, developing meaningful and job-related situational work assignments, and interview questions.
3. Assure that the human resource department is represented at each interview.
4. Complete pre-employment paperwork and verify selected applicants' eligibility for hire, including references, credentials, pre-employment drug screening, criminal history, driver eligibility, and employment physicals, as required.
5. Assure compliance with agency policy, state, and federal law.
6. Assure appropriate orientation to the employment setting for each new employee, including completion of required documents, distribution of personnel policies, and a preliminary explanation of employee benefits for eligible staff.
7. Maintain a working knowledge of all benefit programs and make recommendations to the HR Director as needed to stay competitive.
8. Promote a positive public image of the company through public information activities and community involvement.
9. Assure confidentiality of all staff records and agency business.
10. Identify and attend local Job Fairs or other networking opportunities.
11. Other duties as assigned.
