Job Description
Join an enthusiastic and cutting-edge team here at General Motors in our Global Autonomous Driving Center (GADC)! Active Safety is a rapidly developing area implementing multiple new features, subsystems and sensing systems to the vehicle. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Performance Calibration Engineer responsible for development and calibration of active safety features. This assignment allows flexible work where creativity, initiative and independent judgment are involved, and effective cross-organizational teamwork is crucial.
The GADC Performance Calibration Engineer will be responsible to deliver production calibrations for feature performance. The position involves hands on vehicle testing, data analysis, simulation and performance optimization to deliver automated active safety features that provide customer convenience and save lives.
Performance Calibration Engineer Responsibilities:
* Develop optimal calibration values for assigned features, and ensure goals are met at key points in the development process
* Lead the development and issue resolution for active safety feature performance
* Build, maintain and execute calibration development plans for assigned features
* Participates in feature, calibration, simulation and algorithm workgroups to establish and improve features and requirements to meet or exceed customer expectations
* Support validation and verification feature performance activities
* Travels as necessary for development trips and performance buy-off rides
* Build a collaborative environment working closely with other departments to ensure features are properly integrated into vehicle
Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related engineering degree
* Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in an automotive or related industry
* Experience with data analysis and the associated tools
* Ability to root cause complex problems
* High level of communication and interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish Peer Relationships
* Demonstrated ability to successfully accomplish tasks under minimal direction
* Possess a valid driver's license and ability to operate test vehicles
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science
* Experience with vehicle or component development, integration and diagnostics
* Understanding of the use of vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition systems
* Experience with lidar, camera, radar or sensor systems
* Simulink, MATLAB & Python tool/script development proficiency
* Experience with simulation, HIL, and mathematical modeling
