Job Description
As a HIL Subsystem Bench Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing real time controls simulation models for various vehicle domains such as Hybrid Controls, Active Safety, and Chassis, and Body. Responsibility will include plant modeling, and integration of plant models with Hardware-In-the-Loop environment for networked ECUs. Specific design and build activities that you will be responsible for include:
* Execute bench development strategies defined for organization by HIL Modeling Strategic Lead
* Partner with Subsystem Bench Lead Engineer in the development of Vehicle System Bench
* Collaborate with Electrical Validation HIL Modeling team to ensure that best practices are shared / standardized by both organizations.
* Develop real time Simulation Models using Matlab/Simulink in support of real time testing of integrated controllers using Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL)
* Adapt and integrate Chassis, Active Safety, or Propulsion System controllers with HIL bench
* Integration of plant models from multiple vehicle domains to enable software verification on HIL benches
* Partner with validation engineers to develop test methods and setups
* Utilize understanding of Vehicle Electrical Architecture and Subsystem/Features in Active Safety, Electrification, and Chassis Controls domains when developing HIL models
* Develop and/or adapt Vehicle Dynamics simulation models (e.g. CarSim, VeDyna, or ASM-VD) with other plant models
* Provide solutions for instrumentation and simulation of Electronic Controls Unit (ECU) sensors and actuators
* Utilize various scripting tools to enhance modeling methods (i.e. Python, Visual C,...)
* Develop new simulation methods in support of new vehicle features and technology. This includes new HIL hardware, software, and modeling strategy.
* Train and support validation engineers on Hardware-In-the-Loop bench for test and simulation setups for them to run their validation tests
* Develop HIL test automation framework solutions for integration testing of vehicle features/functions and functional safety
* Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering as needed
This position involves responsibility for development activities throughout a vehicle's lifecycle including:
* Definition of bench and test property technical requirements
* Electrical design integration and verification
* Electrical design testing and validation
This role requires an experienced engineer to lead and drive a cross-functional product development team including collaboration with the following groups:

Additional Job Description
Education Required:
* Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical with Electrical Experience)
Experienced Required:
* Understand Vehicle System Electrical Architecture
* Understand Active Safety Features and integration of sensors with vehicle controls system.
* Understand plant modeling strategies to replace hardware with simulated HWIO from hardware in the loop controller.
* Degrees: Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Control Systems or equivalent degree
* Min of 3-4 years experience using Hardware-In-the-Loop systems for developing real time controls
* Min of 1-2 years experience in Matlab/Simulink modeling
* Min of 1-2 years experience in Electrical Test and Development, and Vehicle Electrical Architecture
* Understanding of GMLAN/CAN vehicle communication system and CAN based monitoring tools (CANalyzer, NeoVi,..)
Preferred Skills:
* Prior experience in Chassis Controls modeling and simulation using modeling tools such as CarSim, VeDyna, or ASM..
* Prior experience in Electrification Controls modeling and simulation using Matlab Simulink
* Prior experience in ADAS (Active Safety) Controls modeling and simulation
* Understanding of advanced vehicle communications protocols such as Flexray and Ethernet.
* Understanding of Systems Engineering Based Vehicle Development
* Understanding of Control Systems Theory
* High level of oral and written communication skills
* High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
