Summary of Position: | The Campus Store Manager ensures store operations support and facilitates the academic mission of the university. The manager is responsible for planning, organizing and directing daily store activities, supervising store staff, and interacting with key campus contacts. Responsibilities also include merchandise buying and communicating information to campus administration regarding progress toward goals and critical issues impacting students, operations and revenues. | |

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: | In lieu of five years work experience, seven years of relative experience in a similar retail environment with a minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity.

Duties/Responsibilities: | Ensures excellent customer service through the development and revision of store policies and procedures. Resolves customer complaints and issues.
Responsible for promoting excellent campus relations and client satisfaction and meeting the needs of the campus efficiently and effectively.
Monitor sales, inventory, and other financial performance goals against budget, prior history, and other benchmarks, including monthly financial reporting.
Ensures proper use of POS and inventory management systems to maintain accurate inventory, using proper receiving, invoice payment, accounts receivable, and customer sales processes, including managing e-commerce order activity.
Proactively influences merchandise assortment, identifying collaborative partnership opportunities on campus, analyzing customer and campus needs, source and purchase merchandise, and coordinating timely feedback with merchandise sourcing resources.
Assists with the development, implementation, and coordination of marketing and sales promotion activities with campus, including merchandising display, social media, and advertising.
Promotes safety and security of people and inventory or other assets through effective loss prevention techniques, minimizing inventory shrinkage or other losses.
Assists with development of annual financial projections for store based upon history, trend analysis, and operational goals.
Responsible for store operations including, coordinating store hours with campus, store opening and closing, and daily reconciliation of cash, bank deposits, and other forms of payment.
Oversees the supervision of all full-time, part-time and student staff in the assigned campus store. Determines employee work schedules and assignments to ensure efficient store operations and achieve financial targets.
In cooperation with Human Resources, assists with interviews, selection, and training of new employees.
Ensures employee compliance with established policies, procedures, and best practices.
Assesses staff training needs and recommends training accordingly.
In cooperation with Human Resources, evaluates performance, recommends and administers corrective action. Conducts performance reviews for all store staff.
Support the teaching and learning process; actively work to create and support a student-centered environment. Provide flexible, responsive and high-quality service to all students, staff and community members, and seeks continual improvement of current practices and procedures.
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with University policies and applicable laws.
Report directly to the Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Enterprises.

Skills and Abilities: | Demonstrated knowledge of merchandise buying, visual merchandising and inventory management.
Advanced knowledge of marketing and promotional development, including effective use of social media.
Demonstrated excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize combined with strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills to find and implement solutions.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task adjusting to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and unexpected events. Accepting of new ideas and approaches to work.
Demonstrated advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain effective working relationships with customers, store staff, campus administration or other stakeholders, faculty, and other colleagues.
Strong technology aptitude and demonstrated knowledge of Purchasing, Inventory Control and POS Systems.
Basic mathematical skills with the ability to compute cost and sales margins, reconcile cash and sales receipts.
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds; bend, twist, climb ladders, stairs, step stools as necessary using feet, legs and/or hands and arms.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule including weekends as needed and as dictated by the campus and business cycle. | |
