ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Simulation Educator and AHA Training Site Coordinator is responsible for designing and conducting simulation scenarios, consulting with clinical educators about simulation needs, and providing simulation training across the system. S/he is also responsible for coordinating AHA CPR courses at Munson Medical Center. Approximately fifty percent of this position will be for simulation responsibilities, and the other 50% will be for coordinating AHA CPR courses at Munson Medical Center.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
Bachelor's degree in clinical nursing, or related field. Master's degree in nursing or education. preferred.
3 years' experience in a bedside RN capacity required. Critical Care Nursing preferred.
Current BLS Certification. Additional advanced certification required (ACLS, PALS, or NRP). ACLS certification preferred. BLS instructor certification preferred.
Experience with project management, coordinating education, or information management. Proven ability to be self-directed and team oriented.
Required to lift more than 35 pounds.
Travel required - 10% - 25% - in northern Michigan area. Must possess a valid Michigan's Driver License.
ORGANIZATION The Simulation Educator and AHA Training Site Coordinator reports to the Senior Coordinator of Simulation Education.
Maintains collegial working relationships with members of the nursing staff, instructors of affiliated schools of nursing, the American Heart Association Training Center, and with other departments within the Munson Healthcare system.
SPECIFIC DUTIES

Functions within the policies and procedures of the hospital and the performance standards established by Staff Development for the Simulation Educator and AHA Training Site Coordinator.
Performs maintenance or repairs of simulation and CPR equipment. Manages inventory; arranges for repair/replacement of broken equipment and maintains contact with vendors.
Assists the Senior Coordinator of Simulation Education in establishing annual goals and objectives for simulation and AHA courses.
Prepares, analyzes and maintains a variety of comprehensive, and specialized reports.
Performs responsibilities specific to the Simulation Educator: a. Designs, modifies and facilitates simulations following national simulation standards for the Munson Healthcare system. b. Consults and schedules simulation events. c. Provides simulation training for those facilitating simulations. d. Provides facilitation and technical support for those facilitating simulations. e. Monitors simulation activities and tracks associated statistics to use as the basis for evaluating the effectiveness of simulation. f. Guides clinical experts in developing simulations for process testing, and performance improvement documenting the debriefing and simulation event. g. Assists in the creation of policies and procedures for simulation use within the Munson Healthcare System. h. Assist with maintaining the simulation lab and equipment at Munson Medical Center.
Performs responsibilities of the AHA Training Site Coordinator for Munson Medical Center:
a. Works with Staff Development and Simulation team to schedule MMC CPR courses. b. Coordinates/Facilitates CPR courses offered at MMC according to AHA policies and guidelines. c. Maintains current listing and ensures all AHA Instructors assisting with CPR courses at MMC follow AHA policies and guidelines. d. Works with the HealthStream Senior Coordinator and Associate System Analyst to: assure assignment of all online courses; run completion/delinquent reports; problem solve participant computer issues; and coordinate use of HeartCode licenses for system. e. Manages eCard Supply: assigns to instructors and/or participants; assists customers with access issues. f. Manages paper and electronic course records according to MHC Policy and AHA guidelines. g. Communicates and works with the AHA Training Center Coordinator. h. Communicates with the other MHC Site Coordinators for resource sharing. i. Acts as a resource for AHA issues at the Training Site.
