Description
The described position is for an Electrical Engineer with Power Electronics background act as Technical Project Lead (TPL) through the VT product life cycle of electronic Inverter and Converter components and subsystems for Electric and Hybrid Electric vehicles. The position is located in Auburn Hills, MI, but occasional travel to company/customer locations both within the U.S. and abroad may be required.
Core Responsibilities:
• Act as a lead project EE team member within a multifunctional team to perform detailed design including schematic capture of power electronics circuitry for control of the high power switching of electric motors in electric vehicles to meet the customer functional, timing and project quoted cost targets.
• Create work plans and schedules for EE project team deliverables in alignment with Project Manager.
• Coordinate and perform release of work products into SAP system for release to manufacturing plants.
• Perform simulation and worst case analysis of power electronics circuitry, including Control board and Gatedrive board high voltage circuits for assigned customer development projects.
• Perform testing of high voltage/high power DCDC Converter and Inverter systems for automotive applications including high voltage circuits and produce design calculations and reports.
• Coordinate with the Hardware Technical Project Leaders and fellow team engineers, including those in other Continental global locations, to ensure all internal and customer requirements are met.
• Interact on a technical level both within the design team and with customers. Participate in new business acquisitions, as periodically required.
• Translate customer requirements into innovative and cost effective design solutions.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Execute tasks according to corporate and business unit processes.
• Work in a global team environment to support business unit goals and objectives.
• Drive and guide module architectural and design decisions.
• Contribute to the creation of new processes and solutions, identify problems and determine alternate solutions.
• Support DV, PV, DFMEA, and APQP activities.
• Support production launch activities related to ICT and EOL testing.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline
• 5+ years of automotive electrical engineering experience
• Experienced with power electronics
• Electronic inverter and converter testing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters degree in Electrical Engineering
• 8+ years of automotive power electronics engineering and development experience
• 3+ years of electric vehicle engineering experience
