The Logistics Planner I will be responsible for planning, monitoring, expediting, compliance, reporting, freight settlement and continuous improvement opportunities within the transportation network. The Transportation Planner will be tasked with ensuring that all day-to-day tasks within the Dawn Transportation Network are completed in an effective, efficient, and timely manner. The position will take direction from the Logistics Manager.
- Completes daily transportation planning and execution within BluJay TMS to include expedited, special requests, and crisis management.
- Resolves service and operational issues including but not limited to dropped loads, rejected/refused loads, transit delays and appointment scheduling.
- Responsible for key point of contact for load status requests, ensure timely communication and updates are provided to management, customer service, customers, carriers, plants, and distribution centers.
- Develops operational relationship with carriers, plants, distribution centers and customer service. Responds to customer and internal stakeholder inquiries.
- Interacts with carriers on rate quotes for exception lanes.
- Responsible for freight settlement function in BluJay TMS, review of carrier statements, blocked carrier invoice resolution and carrier inquiries regarding freight payment status.
- Coordinates over, short, and damages (OS&D), files and resolves freight claims.
- Drive continuous improvement through all areas of responsibility; recommend and execute strategies to improve on network efficiencies.
- Communicates clearly and regularly with transportation providers and management regarding performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant/recent experience within supply chain operations (transportation, logistics, sourcing, procurement, customer service) or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Subjects: Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science
- Specialist Areas of Experience Preferred or Equivalent (Professional Designation, Certifications, etc.):
- Transportation/Logistics Planning
- Strong engagement and partnership skills with the ability to understand and deliver on established goals. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly in difficult or challenging situations. Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (BluJay/Lean TMS) preferred.
- Proven ability to effectively collaborate with multiple business partners (internal and external). Experience with top tier ERP system (JDE, Oracle, SAP) required.
- Self-motivated and demonstrates initiative; demonstrates ability to work independently. Knowledge of general supply chain concepts preferred.
- Strong ability to plan, manage, and prioritize time/tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment and attention to detail and follow through on commitments. High-level of proficiency with computer applications included Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, etc.
- Specific and/or Financial Accountabilities (Budget, Revenue etc.):
- Freight Settlement/Payment for 3rd party carriers
- Achieve budgeted cost per pound targets
- Office based position on fast paced work environment
- Continuous interactions with internal and external stakeholders via phone, email, and instant messaging
- Sitting, walking, lifting <40 pounds (office equipment and supplies)
