Job description
This role will serve as the lead of the Division-U warranty management activities globally and is located in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
This role requires on a regular basis interaction with team members from manufacturing plants, engineering, customer quality, finance, suppliers as well as multiple external customers, always serving as a main contact for warranty issues.
The role is responsible for building strong relationships with the global customer quality organizations to ensure top-notch customer support and product performance through continuous improvement as measured by the customer.
This position will need to collect the warranty data from each customer portal periodically to review and analyze the data to identify potential quality issues or significant warranty data discrepancies and communicate such further internally and externally.
Warranty activities for Division U products include, but are not limited to: Airbag Control Modules, RAS and PSAT Sensors, Electronic Park Brake Modules and DAS products.
This position will also need to monitor and manage the warranty performance from a quality and cost point of view to drive with internal cross functional teams' warranty cost reduction thru quality improvement activities.
Regular reporting of the activities to different levels of management will be required.
Position Requirements
Improve the warranty system based on corporate direction and further strengthen QSYS as a tool for warranty data management.
Lead and drive the product warranty system ensuring feedback reaches responsible groups in the business and assures ownership and permanent corrective action to support the delivery of quality products that enhance customer satisfaction
Identify warranty trends requiring corrective action. Work cross functionally to address technical and commercial warranty issues. Raise issues to appropriate organizational level to address.
Prime customer contact for warranty for Division U products. Present Division U position to customer for technical and commercial issues warranty issues. Represent ZF at customer technical and commercial warranty meetings. Determine Division U position for financial responsibility and warranty issues via data analysis. Review customer warranty quality scorecards and commercial agreements and communicate impact to Division U Management.
Interface with ZF central quality, commercial warranty, and other business unit's warranty groups. Benchmark differing group's activities and implement best practices. Share resources as appropriate to save ZF money. Implement warranty strategic action plan. Work cross functionally on warranty strategic action plan.
Determine format and content for reporting (0km and warranty). Create warranty related policies and procedures. Provide the detailed data that supports warranty reserve levels for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Structure all customer warranty reports to report by commodity R/1000, IPTV/CPV better/worse versus the previous year and specific vehicle line warrant percent impact versus total commodity warranty.
Perform projections of Division U product warranty performance. Determine the ZF and customer business case rationale for proposed product changes to improve warranty. Perform warranty projections for PPAC investigations.
Drive reduction in global Division U warranty costs.
Lead global Division U tech rep strategy and management including training, communications and best practices alignment.
Experience and Skill Requirements
3 years or above of warranty management experience
Statistical analysis capability and experience
Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
Results, customer and change orientation
Project management expertise required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Supervisory experience preferred, but not necessary
Strong interpersonal skills; willing to travel on short notice; go-&-see investigations
Knowledge of basic metrology, standard inspection methods, blue print reading, SQCN system, basic safety requirements, computer applications, TS requirements, APQP, SPC techniques, customer requirements
Candidate must be proficient in MS Word, Excel; including pivot table analysis, PowerPoint and QSYS applications.
Experience with customer warranty systems like FCA WIS, GM GART and QWIK, Toyota GSQIDS, Nissan Supplier Portal and Ford AWS are desirable
Technical report writing skills - quality procedures, inspection instructions & result logs, PPM report
