Eaton in Marshall, MI has an opening for a Lead Technician in our Prototype Model Shop.
Primary function:
Support and partner with our product engineering team by supplying accurately produced prototype hardware. This role will set up, operate, and maintain various tool room machinery (grinders, CNC, lathes, etc.) to make, modify, or repair tools, fixtures, and assembly components. This role is in prototype testing and is involved in new and unique situations. The role will work with tolerances, fits, finishes that are being developed, requiring accurate documentation of procedures, as well as requiring the machinist to be a creative, able to do problem solving and able to react quickly to changes or unique problems.

In this role you will:
Support engineering by supplying machined prototypes for testing or customer use by committed dates.
Read, draw, and revise blueprints to produce required part specifications.
Operate and adjust tool room equipment according to guidelines and in a safe manner.
Program, revise, and load CNC programs.
Apply knowledge of speeds and feeds for CNC equipment as well as tooling requirements.
Operate Cad Software to generate machining points for programming.
Perform set-up and moderate maintenance of equipment and troubleshoot equipment when required.
Specify and purchase tooling and materials to complete work requests.
Utilize specified gages to ensure proper product tolerances.
This role will require completion of work requests on time, minimize scrap, maintain quality, interact with tooling and raw material vendors, and follow all work instructions, quality requirements and safety protocols
Comply with requirements of the Quality and Environmental Health and Safety Systems.
Maintain clean and organized work areas.
Perform additional functions as required.

Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited facility and a minimum of three years relevant experience or an Associate degree from an accredited university with one-year relevant experience required
Basic mathematics, graph reading, and calculations are required
No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographical area (50 miles) from Marshall, MI will be considered for this position. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications
Lathe and/or Grinding experience preferred
Knowledge of internal combustion engines
Experience achieving requested dimensional requirements on tightly toleranced components
Position Criteria
A high degree of mechanical aptitude
A broad knowledge of test machines and instruments
Print reading, GD&T, and dimensional inspection capability
Knowledge of AutoCAD basics
Quality systems knowledge including ISO 9001:2015
Experience in Microsoft office suite
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to work under deadlines with shifting priorities
