JOB SUMMARY: SER Metro-Detroit is searching for a dynamic individual that will be responsible for Social Media and Outreach for SER programs. The Social Media Outreach Specialist will perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission, policies and procedures of organization. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in an enthusiastic and encouraging way with young people with barriers and has two years of experience in outreach and engagement. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or related field is required. The wage range for the position is $16.83 -17.79 per hour and the compensation package includes monthly employer contribution toward health insurance benefits and vacation time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, implement, update and track social media platforms such Facebook, Twitter, SER Metro blog, and Linked-in on a weekly basis for Youth Programming.
- Create outreach materials for SER programming including flyers and videos.
- Create Monthly SER Metro newsletters and distribute to partners and community.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with staff, participants and partner agencies.
- Plan and execute outreach, recruitment, and engagement efforts for agency’s programming.
- Develop and update content on SER Metro website.
- Write, proofread, and edit creative and technical content across the different platforms.
- Attend public/community events, career and job fairs to promote initiatives.
- Take videos and photographs; as applicable to SER programming or scheduled events.
- Maintain and transfer photos and content to SER Metro’s secured site.
- Develop and execute marketing strategies for projects and programming.
- Ensure creative marketing materials undergo regular review and adhere to SER Metro’s guidelines.
- Ensure that the company is aware social media trends.
- Work closely with Programming, Case Management and job developer to promote scheduled events.
- Contributes to the team effort by performing other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or related field.
- At least two years of experience in outreach and engagement.
- Ability to work in an enthusiastic and encouraging way with young people with barriers.
- Understanding of the issues facing young people who have barriers.
- Bilingual language skills in English/Spanish or English/Arabic preferred.
- Experience with websites and graphic design software such as Canva, Photoshop, WordPress, etc.
- Strong commitment to helping young people succeed in an innovative training program, to reorient their lives, nurture their leadership skills and enable them to make a difference in their community.
- Ability to relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to details.
- Demonstrate self-motivation, initiative and persistence.
- Strong prioritizing, organization, and project management skills.
- Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license and have access to reliable transportation in order to travel to off-site locations/events.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (evenings/weekends).
