 Physician-OBGYN                                          

Purpose: The Physician is a primary provider of health services and provides primary care under established protocols and the approved Clinical Policies of WWFHC. Specialty Summary. Prescribes prenatal and postnatal care; performs deliveries in maternity cases. Treats diseases and injuries of female reproductive system by surgical and conservative means. Prepares and review case histories and obtains data through interviews. Examines patients and determines x-ray examinations and clinical laboratory tests required. Interprets test results and evaluates examination findings. Prescribes prenatal and postnatal care, including diets and medication. Directs nurses in procedures for preoperative and postoperative care such as administering sedatives, prescribing diets, and preparing operative area of patients. Applies surgical procedures and coordinates gynecological and obstetrical operations with anesthesiologist. Administers and prescribes such conservative measures of treatment as antibiotics, drugs, and compresses. Treats patients suffering from surgical shock, postoperative hemorrhages, and other complications. Manages obstetrical and gynecological services. Formulates plans and procedures for obstetrical and gynecological services. Schedules operation of obstetrical and gynecological services with other medical activities. Instructs interns and student residents in obstetrical and gynecological procedures. Serves as consultant on obstetrics and gynecology. 

PART I:                ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTION AND DUTIES

• RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Clinical
     1. Sees any WWFHC patient, regardless of age, sex, race, condition or association another WWFHC provider of care.
     2. Provides Family Medicine services to patients of WWFHC’s.

• Performs systematic health histories and physical assessments of patients.

1. Reports quality of care issues promptly to the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Medical Officer
2. Performs episodic care, treatment, and follow-up.
3. Prescribes drug and medicine treatment.

• Provides patient education and nutritional instruction.
• Supervise non-physician providers as requested.

1. Keeps a systematic record using an approved format of patient care.  Timely and accurately completing patient records, charts and reports as appropriate in electronic charts or on paper.
2. Participates in established call group.
3. Assumes responsibility of patients at appropriate hospital when requested by Emergency Department

• Responsible for ambulatory quality, customer satisfaction and managed care requirements.

1. Communication
   1. Meets with the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Executive Officer and management of Western Wayne Family Health Centers as necessary to ensure that the goals and objectives of the Hospital and Medicine are met.
   2. Communicates all pertinent medical matters to the above-mentioned individuals, as appropriate.

1. Managerial
   1. Provides input to the Chief Executive Officer or Practice Manager, as appropriate, in the performance review process of the Medicine's non-medical staff.
   2. Attends provider meeting at Western Wayne Family Health Centers

1. Education/Training
   1. Participates in the education/training of personnel.
   2. Participates as a member of Western Wayne Family Health Centers in community education programs or community health promotions.

• Attends and completes required/necessary CME training

1. Quality Assessment/Utilization Review
   1. Participates in all relevant QA/UR activities as required
   2. Participates in Peer Review and in-service training.

• Cooperates with Risk Management and participates in Risk Management activities.

1. Marketing
   1. Participates in marketing activities.
   2. Fulfills public relations and speaking engagements as requested.

• Permits the use of his/her name, photograph, and curriculum vitae for marketing purposes.

1. Recruitment
   1. Meet and evaluate potential physician and extender candidates for the Practice.
   2. Assist in orientation of new practitioners to the Practice.

• Introduce new physicians to referral physicians.

• ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

1. Responsible to Chief Medical Officer, Western Wayne Family Health Centers or his designee for clinical practice performance.
2. Responsible to Chief Executive Officer, Western Wayne Family Health Centers or his designee for non-clinical activities and system issues. 

PART III:            EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

1. Doctor of Medicine Degree
2. Board Eligible/Certified in a primary care specialtyfrom an accredited school of medicine.
