This position requires
A valid Michigan teaching certificate with an early childhood (ZA) endorsement; or
A valid Michigan teaching certificate with a child development associate (CDA) credential; or
A bachelor’s degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education with specialization in preschool teaching; and
A background check for criminal offenses and child abuse/neglect.
The person in this position is responsible for:
Collaborating in the implementation of the Great Start Readiness Program.
Planning, posting, and implementing daily and weekly lesson plans for preschoolers, utilizing the Creative Curriculum.
Assuming and maintaining responsibility for the children in the classroom, on the playground, and on field trips.
Communicating with the children at their level, and participating in their structured activities; guiding children in the development and use of appropriate language, cognitive and social skills.
Exhibiting good classroom management techniques utilizing positive guidance methods.
Organizing and implementing home visits and parent/teacher conferences to the families of enrolled children.
Supervising Assistant Teachers, Classroom Aides, volunteers and interns.
Co-hosting Parent Meetings.
Participating in conferences, workshops, staff in-service trainings, and continuing education, as required
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE CANDIDATES WHO ARE BILINGUAL (SPANISH/ENGLISH).
Preschool/Great Start Readiness Program Experience Preferred.
