Position Summary
Position Description:
This collaborative, new Cystic Fibrosis translational science program is the brainchild of Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital at Spectrum Health, Michigan State University (MSU), and “Hunt for a Cure” philanthropy. Currently the group is comprised of a senior PhD research scientist and mid-level PhD scientist devoted to basic science CF research as well as three board certified Pediatric Pulmonologists at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital (HDVCH). We have the capacity to move your current lab for you into generous laboratory space at the new MSU Grand Rapids Research Center, which is located less than one block from the Children’s Hospital. The position is structured as 75% research and 25% clinical with philanthropic research support for a minimum of 3 years. The practice includes a fully accredited Adult and Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Care Center with TDN (Therapeutic Development Network) designation. We are specifically interested in your ability to lead a research team, coupled with your desire to continue with primarily research focused clinical care.

Helen DeVos Children’s’ Hospital (HDVCH) is a free standing 236 bed (108 bed NICU) regional tertiary referral center on the main campus of Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, MI. www.helendevoschildrens.org HDVCH cares for 10,000 inpatients, sees 110,000 ambulatory visits and over 50,000 visits to Pediatric Emergency Department annually. The Children’s Hospital serves a 37 county region with 200 pediatric specialists in 50 pediatric specialty areas. Basic Qualifications:
Education - Medical Degree (MD or DO)
Licenses - Current M.D. or D.O. license for the state of Michigan.
Current State of Michigan and Federal Narcotics Licenses.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in BCLS, ACLS required if stress tests performed or as required by specialty. Specific to SHMG 90 Days
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Specific to SHMG: ACLS required if stress tests performed or as required by specialty. 120 Days
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Specific to SHMG: (PALS is required by if specialty or stress test performed 120 Days
