Position Summary:
Maintains a positive public image for the practice by dealing with patients with a high level of courtesy and respect. Responsible for assisting the physician with basic office medical functions to ensure a coordinated approach to patients activities.
Works closely with the physicians to ensure expedient, appropriate patient care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1.
Performs patient and family education, counseling, and teaching.
2.
Brings patient into exam room, obtains brief history of complaints, prepares patient for exam and takes vital sign.
3.
Performs clerical work consisting of, referrals, scheduling appointments with other physicians and facilities, filling out forms, and answering phones.
4.
Assists physician with exam and procedures as needed.
5.
Stock rooms, takes care of instruments and autoclaves equipment.
6.
Assists in the orientation of personnel, with emphasis on nursing aspects.
7.
Gives injections.
8.
Attends staff meetings and in-services.
9.
Assumes charge position as required in absence of supervisory personnel.
10.
Performs other duties/projects as assigned, or required
Required:
Graduate of approved program for Licensed Practical Nurse.
Current State of Michigan Licensed Practical Nurse license.
Excellent customer relations skills.
Ability to lift, move, and/or carry items weighing 25 pounds or more.
For clinics with the Rural Health Designation, Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), and Canadian equivalents, (MHC approved providers for the resuscitation certification) is required within 6 months of hire
Preferred:
Previous medical office experience.
Knowledge of wide variety of medical equipment.
