Summary
The VTS Lead Transportation Assistant is a position under the Supervisory Mobility Manager within the Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) at the Battle Creek VA Health Care Delivery System. Incumbent provides patient program support, program administration, administrative/data support, analytical support and a high level of customer service to all staff within VTS, other departments, and Veterans at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center and its surrounding Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
Responsibilities
Collaborating with the Beneficiary Travel Supervisor for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation and ongoing operational flow of the Veteran Transportation Services program and Beneficiary Travel Office; Responsible for general program support such as travel eligibility, collection, compilation, research and tracking of financial and demographic information to support VTS and Beneficiary travel programs; Responsible for collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS); Performing a basic analysis of the data and generating a variety of reports; Reviewing documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate; Entering pertinent information into an automated tracking system; Distributing and balancing the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, and assure that each employee has enough work to keep busy; Overseeing all modes of transportation via air ambulance, commercial air, taxi, ambulance, bus and or contracted transport services; Coordinating the day-to-day operation of the VTS program and Beneficiary Travel office processes and functions; Maintaining a current knowledge and answer questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives, etc. and obtaining needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that come up; Amending or rejecting work not meeting established standards, referring to supervisor questions or matters not covered by standards and problems in meeting performance standards. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/03/2021. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. In addition to the qualification above you must also have: Grade Requirements: GS-07 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation and ongoing operational flow of the Transportation Services. Collates in-coming data from a variety of sources and maintains automated systems or program specific data to analyze and track program trends. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work of this position is primarily sedentary, however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light objects.
