Job Summary
Facilitates visitation between parents and children in foster care by transporting to and from visitation times. Provides safe and appropriate supervision for children at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide transportation for foster children and adult clients to and from medical appointments, family visits, and other services.
Supervise children as requested during appointments either at home, office or at other appropriate sites.
Document observations of the child, foster parents and birth parents according to policy; report observations to social worker with case responsibility.
Provide documentation and filing services for the foster care program as needed.
Provide auxiliary services related to center's foster care program in accordance with center, division, organization, and contract requirements.
Job Qualifications
Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification
Experience
- One year experience working in a child welfare or related service setting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work creatively and effectively in team setting as well as independently.
Ability and willingness to interact with compassion, cultural sensitivity and empathy to children.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
Ability to read, speak and write English language. Fluent in the language of the clients served preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to write using proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Able to use basic computer software applications.
Additional Work Requirements
Automobile travel required. Valid unrestricted driver's license with good driving record. Valid proof of automobile insurance.
Use of a safe and clean vehicle.
Ability to work nontraditional hours.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to lift/carry small children, and older children up to 100 pounds.
Near visual acuity; hand-eye coordination; hand and finger dexterity.
