SUMMARY

The Mechanical Design Checker evaluates engineering models and drawings for completeness of design, adherence to all documentation requirements, proper dimensioning techniques, fit checks and tolerance analyses to ensure items can be fabricated and assembled as designed
He/She has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the mechanical engineering field as it relates to assembly systems
He/She works under immediate supervision, relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Required

Associates Degree in Computer Drafting Program and/or an equivalent amount of experience • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Proficient with recent software such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems
- NX, Solidworks & AutoDesk Softwares
- TeamCenter PLM
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows 10 or higher

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned
Coordinate with and consult other personnel (designers, layout persons, and detailers), to design, Client out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design issues or other problems
Proficient in GD&T.
Position instructions and comments onto drawings
Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed
Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using CAD software
Confer with customers to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to installation of systems
Confirm drawing illustration matches bills of materials as well as material lists
Ensure documents adhere to approved drawing checklist
Verify drawings / parts interface correctly at assembly level
Maintain documents for quality / accuracy
Other duties as assigned Checker

Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department, Test and Assembly Team Engineers, Vendors, Purchasing Department, Quality Assurance Department, Manufacturing Department, and Outside Engineering Companies
